Powys Border Church to set backdrop for music feast


TWO local choirs and will perform at a springtime concert at St Andrew’s Church in Presteigne on Friday May 20, from 7.30pm, in what promises to be a music festival.

Founded over 50 years ago, Builth Male Voice Choir has performed across the UK and Europe, including France, Germany, Ireland, Czech Republic, Netherlands and Belgium. Builth Male Voice has been a regular guest performer at the Welsh Festival of Male Voice Choirs at the Royal Albert Hall in London and has in recent years taken part in the prestigious Cornwall International Male Voice Choral Festival.

Ian Coldrick, chairman of the choir, said that after two years of Covid restrictions the members of the choir are looking forward to their first public concert.

The Dolau Mixtures Choir will also perform in the concert under the baton of their musical director Catherine O’Rourke. Founded in 1987, the mixed choir draws its members from a wide area of ​​Radnorshire and has performed at many local events and has also toured Germany.

The concert is promoted by the Judge’s Lodging, Presteigne, and is organized to raise funds to support this iconic local museum and educational centre.
