San José’s Department of Environmental Services to Unveil Garbage and Recycling Trucks Featuring the Artwork of Three Award-Winning Recycle-Themed Students Truck Sign Design Competition. The competition engaged the youth of San José to help educate the community on the importance of proper recycling.
The contest winners are Taizo Honda, a 5th grade student at Forest Hill Elementary School; Sophia He, a grade 8 student at Piedmont Middle School; and Hannah McCarthy, a grade 10 student at Branham High School. The student artists will be recognized at the unveiling ceremony, which will include three garbage and recycling trucks showcasing their creations. They were three of 45 Kindergarten to Grade 12 students in the San José area who submitted creative designs to help promote the Recycle Right messages. The winners’ artwork was enlarged and featured on San José recycling and garbage trucks.
