Keswick RESIDENTS have spotted a range of filming equipment as another show is set to be filmed in the lakes.
Production began this week on new BBC One drama Ralph & Katie, a spin-off from The A Word which ran for three series between 2016 and 2020.
Co-produced for the BBC by ITV Studios and Keshet Productions, the six episodes follow the continuing story of Ralph and Katie Wilson, each featuring a different story focusing on the domestic challenges they face – issues faced by all newlyweds, but with an added ingredient in the mix being that the couple have Down syndrome.
Leon Harrop and Sarah Gordy are joined by Pooky Quesnel who takes over the role of Louise, Ralph’s mother, turned stepmother to Katie. Other familiar faces are Nigel Betts and Sherry Baines who play Katie’s parents Steve and Clare. There’s also a welcome return for Matt Greenwood (Bohemian Rhapsody, Waterloo Road) who previously thrilled audiences as Tom.
Newcomers include Craig Cash (The Royle Family, Gogglebox) and Daniel Cerqueira (Judy, The Woman in Black) as Dr. Graves.
The groundbreaking series is created by Peter Bowker, who was also the lead writer for The A Word. Bowker last year revealed the team that will work alongside him, all new and emerging writers with disabilities, who were chosen in partnership with BBC Writersroom.
Peter says: “The writing team delivered a series of storylines full of joy, humor and authenticity. It will be exciting to see the wonderful cast bring them to life.
