Horse Mania returns to Lexington next year

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – LexArts will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2022.

There is no better way to celebrate the anniversary and return of the Breeders’ Cup than with Horse Mania. LexArts partners with Keeneland and Makers Mark to bring back the beautiful horses.

“That being the horse capital of the world, we would have horses with silver coats, rainbow coats, jewelry, stars, newspapers, copper and pretty much anything you can imagine,” he said. said Mayor Linda Gorton.

The beautiful and colorful horse statues from Horse Mania in Lexington will be back next year. The organizers are looking for sponsors and artists to help make this all possible.

You can sponsor a horse that costs $ 7,500 or, if you want one of your own, it’s around $ 15,000 and entitles you to a “buy in, now in” appeal.

There will be 50 horses at auction and 10 of them have already been pre-claimed. Council members believe horse sponsorships will flow quickly.

“We are really asking all artists of all ages across Kentucky to submit designs,” said Ame Sweetall, President and CEO of LexArts.

The designs will then be refined and the sponsors will choose the artists for their horse.

LexArts also plans to host more community events as part of Horse Mania next year, such as pop-ups, a gala, and art parties.

“This community will roll out the purple carpet and showcase the best of Lexington from spectacular races, our world-class hospitality and our fabulous arts scene,” Shannon Arvin, President and CEO of Keeneland.

The horses will be deployed to Lexington by the start of the spring meet in 2022 and last until after the fall meet.
