Games Global CEO Walter Bugno shares insight on Games Global’s new launch and gives forecast for vendor in 2022

Last week Games Global officially launched with the announcement of the upcoming acquisition of Microgaming’s Quickfire distribution channel, the game’s IP and its progressive jackpot network. Along with this, the provider has also entered into an agreement to acquire interests in numerous game studios in several jurisdictions. These acquisitions are subject to the obtaining by Games Global of certain regulatory approvals which are expected to be finalized in the second quarter of 2022.

Intel EGR (EGR): Congratulations on the launch of Games Global and on the acquisition agreement with Microgaming. Can you share with us what this will entail?

Walter Bugno (WB): Thank you so much. We are incredibly excited about the welcome Games Global has received and its warm welcome to the industry.

Games Global has agreed in principle to purchase Microgaming’s Quickfire distribution business, their award-winning portfolio of game content and their record-breaking progressive jackpot network, including the Mega Moolah and WowPot jackpots. We have also agreed to acquire a substantial interest in a number of game design studios around the world with plans to focus on content development and innovation, which will bring our current studio network to 34. , located on five continents. These agreements are of course subject to obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals, which should be obtained in the second quarter of the coming year. These acquisitions help to position Games Global as a leading player from the start, with distribution to over 980 game brands and a portfolio of over 3,000 game titles.

EGR: Can you tell us what attracted you to Microgaming’s Quickfire distribution business?

The Quickfire distribution channel connects us to an extensive network of existing customers, with the ability to continue to provide them with access to our growing portfolio of exclusive and partner titles. This acquisition puts us in a unique position to create a new, independent, large-scale supply chain unlike anything seen in many years.

Games Global plans to build on this legacy through modernization and innovation. With the acquired gaming IP we have access to legendary casino games such as Immortal Romance, Thunderstruck® Wild Lightning, Mega Moolah and more. RGE: Games Global is a new player in the market. What do you think your niche will be?

BM: This question is a little misleading – we may be a new entity, but we begin our journey with hundreds of years of combined industry expertise within our teams, not to mention the history and performance of our portfolio. of diversified games and the strength of the distribution. within our existing customer base.

However, we do not intend to rest on these laurels. Our commitment and drive are what I hope will set us apart from the market. Our approach and philosophy will be based on innovation and the constant challenge of “what could be”. We will work tirelessly to change the game, then rewrite the rulebook – with the goal of completely setting a new standard for video gaming.

Quite simply, we are committed to being the best – this is our promise, our niche and our commitment.

EGR: What details can you share about the agreements also made with other game studios?

BM: Along with the agreement to acquire the distribution business, the games IP and the progressive jackpot network, we have also agreed to acquire a stake in a number of game studios. This acquisition is extremely important for our commitment to innovate because these studios are ready to produce the “must-have” games of the future.

We will be focusing a lot on the development of the studio, giving each studio the freedom and space to spark the sparks of their creativity. We want these ideas and concepts to be well fed so that they can come to the market fully fleshed out. Our studios will be Games Global’s superheroes, each bringing unique content that the market and gamers want.

With this investment, we will acquire interests in a number of studios and we are committed to continuing to develop this network, proximity to the market and to our customers being important drivers.

RGE: How will the acquisition of the distribution business shape the future of Games Global?

BM: The distribution business is excellent and allows us to build on its existing diverse content portfolio and distribution network of over 980 game brands – so we are already starting from a very strong position.

EGR: Which markets will be your main area of ​​intervention?

BM: The online gaming market is very dynamic and growing globally. We will continue to focus on established and mature regulated markets as well as newly regulated markets. We are constantly on the lookout for new developments and opportunities, with the aim of providing new and existing businesses with leading products and content.

Like everyone in the industry, we are positively excited about the prospects that a North American regulatory market offers us, but we will also remain firmly committed to the growing regulated market opportunities in Europe and Latin America.

EGR: In your opinion, what types of innovative technologies will set you apart from your competitors?

BM: “Innovation” is a fundamental principle of Games Global. I trust the expertise of our employees and in doing so I give them the freedom to explore and exceed perceived limits. Whatever discipline our employees are passionate about, from game makers and mathematicians to marketers and data analysts, they all strive to innovate to make their fields of specialization and the industry at large, better, more. strong and more exciting.

While I don’t intend to share any specific initiatives prior to a release, I will say that one advantage of the vast network of studios we are building is that we can dedicate a number of studios just to the tasks of innovation, and then complement that with input from all of our other studios.

RGE: When do you think the deal will be finalized?

BM: The agreements are subject to obtaining applicable regulatory approvals from Games Global, which we expect to complete in the second quarter of 2022.

RGE: What will be the next steps for Games Global?

BM: We’re going to build on the positive response and momentum over the past week, from our brand launch to what I guess can be considered our “start of event” at ICE 2022. I wait with it. looking forward to the next ICE to fully introduce ourselves to the industry. and give people a first glimpse of our new games, our people, how we intend to approach the market and what we stand for.

But, ICE 2022 will only be our first part. After receiving regulatory approvals, we can’t wait to get up and be up and running. We’re ready to experience some of the best new games and innovative products over the coming year. We believe in the development of creativity and innovation, working with all to ensure that the best ideas are developed and implemented in the industry.
