CHENNAI: Director Lokesh Kanakaraj has unveiled the first look at director Arun Karthik’s upcoming horror-comedy ‘Ripupbury’, starring actor Mahendran, on Sunday’s anniversary.
Speaking to IANS, director Arun Karthik said: “My film will be a full-fledged horror-comedy set in a rural setting. It’s about three people who find themselves in a gothic situation. “
Arun says that Mahendran plays a boy next door in the movie and that role would probably be the craziest of all his movies.
The film will also star Kavya Arivumani who is known for her role as ‘Mullai’ in the Tamil TV series ‘Pandian Stores’.
Giving details of what inspired him to come up with this story, Arun says, “After watching the Telugu movie ‘Jathi Rathnalu’, I wanted to do a similar stress reliever in Tamil.”
“I wanted to do a horror comedy. However, all the storylines of the horror comedy were explored, so we came up with something new. This story has a rural setting. More importantly, outside of the horror, the film will have a real story that will be full of humor and drama,” he said.
Eighty percent of the film is finished, reveals the director and adds that they intend to release the film this summer this year.
