NEW ULM – Bail was set at $100,000 on Tuesday for a 43-year-old Pemberton man facing three felony charges of operating a criminal vehicle with a large body stemming from an Oct. 1 crash on 3rd North Streets and Broadway.
Miguel Bustillos’ bail with conditions was set at $50,000. A court appearance has been set for 8:30 a.m. on October 18.
Bustillos was granted a public defender on Tuesday.
Additional charges filed against Bustillos on Monday include threats of felony violence, felony felony operation of felony vehicle-substantial bodily harm-driver causes collision and leaves scene; misdemeanor failing to provide proof of insurance while driving a vehicle, possession of more than 1.4 grams of marijuana in a motor vehicle, and fleeing from a peace officer by means other than a vehicle motorized.
According to court documents, the two occupants of the other vehicle suffered serious head injuries in the two-vehicle crash reported at 8:15 p.m. Saturday.
One victim reportedly had multiple pelvic fractures. Both victims are in an intensive care unit.
New Ulm police report that two people found in one of the crash vehicles were found unconscious.
Several witnesses who were at the scene of the accident recounted the events to the police.
